What the relationship of Ah. Ampere and Wh

Ah Wh Ampere

What's the Ah, Ampere What the relationship of them

Many customer come to ask me :  Whats Ampere your Lifepo4 Battery , i think they ar are not clear to the  difference of the  Ah. Ampere, Wh

So It is necessary to make it clear for them. it is A basic  one for everybody

Regarding the terms AhAmple, and Wh you mentioned, let me first clarify as below :

  • Ah stands for Ampere-hour, a common unit of battery capacity.

  • Wh stands for Watt-hour, a common unit of electrical energy.

  • Ample is not a standard electrical unit. It might be a misspelling or misreading of Ampere (the unit of electric current). In everyday conversation, people sometimes say “ample capacity” as a phrase, but it is not a unit.

Below, I assume you meant Ah and Wh, as well as their relationship with current (A, Amperes).

1 Firstly as below :

UnitMeaningPhysical Quantity
A (Ampere)Electric currentCurrent
Ah (Ampere-hour)Battery capacity = Current × TimeElectric charge
Wh (Watt-hour)Electrical energy = Power × TimeEnergy

2. Secondly Conversion Between Ah and Wh

The conversion requires the voltage (V).

Wh=Ah×VAh=WhV

Examples:

  • 12V, 100Ah battery

    100 Ah×12 V=1200 Wh

    That is 1.2 kilowatt-hours (1 kWh = 1000 Wh).

  • 500Wh, 50V battery

    50050=10 Ah

3.Thirdly  Relationship Between Ah and Current (A)

Ah tells you how many hours a battery can last when discharging at a given current.

Discharge time (h)=Capacity (Ah)Current (A)

Examples:

  • 10Ah battery discharged at 2A → runtime = 10/2=5 hours.

  • Discharged at 5A → runtime = 10/5=2 hours.

4.  Fourthly Summary Table as below :

ConversionFormulaRequired Information
Ah → WhWh=Ah×VVoltage (V)
Wh → AhAh=Wh/VVoltage (V)
Ah → discharge timehours=Ah/Current (A)

Above all it is the basic information .  It is not diffcult . but it is very important .  many customer cant  make different of them. finally you have any question, pls contact us :
